Letter promoting STEMfire within company
Sample email companies can use internally to promote educational volunteer opportunities and the tool STEMfire to connect professionals to education opportunities.
The high-tech industry and students in your community need your help. We are looking for employees who are willing to volunteer in various local school districts, helping prepare students for careers in STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) fields. Needs may range from speakers to topic advisors and STEM judges to career coaches, depending on the school and the teacher requesting assistance. Beyond setting up kids to succeed in their careers and life, your efforts will help boost the tech talent pool in North Texas.
As a member of the Metroplex Technology Business Council (MTBC), YOUR COMPANY believes in doing our part to meet our continued talent challenges and grow the emerging high-tech workforce in the DFW metroplex. By 2018, STEM related jobs in Texas are projected to grow by 22 percent, but only 12 percent of the degrees earned by college graduates are in STEM fields. Without well-trained workers for the 758,000 jobs that will need to be filled, our industry will suffer, and so will the Texas economy. We must take action today.
The MTBC, in collaboration with local independent school districts and institutions of higher learning, is taking a proactive approach to preserving the integrity and quality of jobs in your industry. It has partnered with the University of Texas at Dallas to create a pilot online database –STEMfire– which will facilitate volunteer engagement between students and STEM professionals. You can help by going into the system and both creating a profile and/or choosing a volunteer opportunity best suited to your expertise and interests. A small amount of your time will have a huge impact in the life of a child and for our industry moving forward.
Thanks to the MTBC and volunteers like you, North Texas kids and parents will learn about the potential for rewarding and high-paying careers in STEM fields.
Please get involved today to help our kids and the future of your industry. You may register at http://metroplextbc.org/stem. It takes just a few minutes to sign up.
